Self Publishing Through Amazon 3 Tips

Because Amazon is the largest bookseller in the world self publishers would do well to use this site to sell their books. Amazon can be so critical to a self publishing author's success because of the sheer volume of traffic on the site. The greater the traffic volumes to your book selling page the higher the likelihood of selling the listed book. Makes sense, doesn't it? If, for example, one of your titles catches on in a minor Amazon category even if just a little you could sell a bunch of books quickly or it could end up being a slow but steady stream of sales. Either way it's worth selling as a self publisher on Amazon.
Make sure your book has "buy-ability" That is, it is written on a subject that people will spend money to get information on. So many authors, especially self published authors, will write a book and then go look for a market to buy the book.
In a word this approach is: wrong.
Would-be self published authors should take the exact opposite approach. That is, first identify a market, determine what problem that market wants solved and then write the book that solves that problem.
Make sure when self publishing through Amazon that the title is available in all formats including Kindle and that you have the "look inside" feature turned on. Here's why
Some people will not buy the book unless it is in Kindle format. And a very large percentage of potential buyers won't buy a book that they cannot at least thumb through. The "look inside" feature allows them this glance. Further, both these features are free for the author self publishing through Amazon to use.
Authors self publishing through Amazon are also eligible for a free "author's page" which can have a blog, picture, bio and bibliography. The Amazon author page will help sell more books and it too is free.
The fact is most authors self publishing through Amazon don't make much money. Many don't even finish their books and anything they do self publish takes years at worse and many months at best.
